Editing your own music on a PC can be hugely rewarding, but if you’ve used computer software to edit your sounds before, you’ll know that the sheer number of features and interfaces can be a little overwhelming at first. Fortunately, there is software available that enables you to edit your sounds more easily – Dexster.
Dexster has as easy-to-use interface that contains enough features to keep you satiafied. You can use it to simply convert your WAV files to MP3 files, or you can do more, tinkering with frequencies and adding effects. You can also record sounds using Dexster, and then save these as WAV or MP3 files too. The quality of sounds can be improved using an array of effects ans filters, and you can fade in and out, normalise equalise, and trim the sounds.
If you are new to sound manipulation, just go to the Help files that are packages with the product; you’ll find explanations of what all the different effects do. If you need more assistance, you can access tutorials on Dexster from the SoftDiv Software website – www.softdivshareware.com
Dexster is a great accompaniment to music production, enabling you to edit your sounds visually with ease. IT also gives a visual representation of a sound, which means that you can select different sections of a sound and even zoom in and out, working with precise sections of sound waves. Try out the program’s features using any sounds you may have saved on your PC. Alternatively hook up a microphone or another external device to your sound card, then record sounds and music into Dexster to edit, save and use with other applications.
