How to add tracks that my stereo can read to long mp3?

Hi there!
I've got a long DJ mix on mp3 I've done, and have been trying to add tracks with Dexter so that I can skip through the individual tunes on my stereo - I don't always want to listen to the whole hour or have to skip through one long track to get to the later tunes!
I've tried adding split seconds of silence (edit>add silence) after highlighting the appropriate points in Dexster, but my stereo still only recognises one track when I burn the resulting mp3 onto a CD.
Does anybody know where I'm going wrong?! Do I need longer gaps - I'm zooming in and adding very very short pieces of silence!
All help would be very much appreciated!
Cheers.
Richard
