Converting DAT files

I followed the instructions and managed to rename the DAT files to AVI files. But after that, I could not convert the AVI file to MP3 file. When I click and choose the file to convert, the 'Converted' folder just pops up and the file is not converted.

I have been trying to figure out this problem for hours and I am really tired. I have successfully converted other media files (but never tried the DAT files) and this prompted me to buy this program.

Please, someone help me. I am doing this to download my mum's favourite karaoke clips to a MP3 player which recognizs MP3 files.
