An easy-to-use piece of software that lets you edit sound files and even mix together your own tunes


If you fancy mixing together your own music, or your're unhappy with MP3 file and fancy editing or cleaning it up, Windows has very few tools to help you out. Assistance is, however, close at hand in the form of Dexster - a sound editing program that's packed with fancy features

Install the software and open the sound file you want to edit. You'll be presented with a graphical representation of the sound file as a waveform. To apply one of Dexster's filters or effects, you'll first need to drag over a section of the waveform to select that passage of music. Dexster's tools are easy to get to grips with - within no time, you'll be able to remove annoyances, such as hiss from a piece of music, as well other effects, such as fading tracks in and out. To help remove very small errors or glitches, you can use the magnifying glass tool to see the short stretches of audio up close. Just drag the mouse pointer over the affected area and click the magnifying glass to get a better view of what's going on.

When you've edited a track to your liking, Dexster allows you to output it as neither an MP3 or WAV file.
